What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry and have at least 1 blank page.
  • Specific forms: There is no pre-arrival visa application for UK citizens; on arrival you may be asked to complete an Immigration Arrival/Departure Form or provide passport details; keep hotel address handy.
  • Financial proof: Evidence of sufficient funds for your stay is recommended; carry funds equivalent to at least USD 100 per day of stay (e.g., recent bank statements for last 3 months).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or Swazi address) and a return or onward ticket may be requested.
  • Photo spec: A recent passport-style photo is typically not required on arrival; if requested, bring one (white background).
  • Biometrics: Pre-submission biometrics are not required; biometric checks may be conducted by Immigration on arrival if needed.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory, but strongly recommended to cover medical emergencies.

How to apply

  • Visa on arrival: with this route there is no online application. How to apply:
  • Arrive at a Swaziland border post or at King Mswati III International Airport and proceed to Immigration.
  • Present your passport, the arrival form if provided, and be prepared to show onward/return ticket and accommodation details.
  • Pay the visa fee in USD or Swazi lilangeni (SZL) at the Immigration desk.
  • The officer will stamp your passport with the visa once approved. Processing is immediate.
  • If you intend to apply for a different visa type (e.g., business, student, work) you must apply at a Swaziland embassy/consulate or through the official portal as published by the government; processing times and fees apply there.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: USD 30 (or equivalent in SZL). Local currency SZL accepted at official posts; some posts may also accept major currencies (USD).
  • VFS/BLS service fees do not apply to visa on arrival through Swaziland Immigration; for embassy-based applications, service fees may apply per the issuing consulate.
  • Total estimated cost: USD 30 for the visa on arrival route.
  • Standard processing time: immediate at entry;
  • Express/priority options: not available for visa on arrival.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Plan in advance: For visa on arrival there is no pre-travel visa application; if you plan to study, work, or attend longer-term programs, apply through a Swaziland embassy well before travel (allow 2–4 weeks or more).
