What you need

  • Travel health insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 is recommended, as UK GHIC does not cover Norway for all tourist medical needs.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Track your cumulative Schengen days carefully if visiting several European countries on the same trip - Norway shares the 90/180 limit with the rest of Schengen.
  • Carry proof of accommodation and return tickets, as UK passports now get more scrutiny than before Brexit.
  • E-gates at Norwegian airports are generally not available to UK passport holders post-Brexit - use the manual passport control lanes.
  • Check FCDO travel advice and Norwegian winter weather conditions before travel, especially for northern regions.
  • If planning to work remotely for an extended period, note this still falls under the standard 90-day visa-free limit unless you secure a different permit.
