Visa types

  • Visa-free tourist entry with CA-4 tourist card: 90 days total across Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala combined (not per country), fee around USD 10-13 collected at the border or airport
  • Residence/work visas require a separate application through Nicaragua's Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería with local sponsorship

Entry conditions

  • Up to 90 days total within the CA-4 bloc; time spent in any of the four countries counts toward the same limit
  • No work permitted on a tourist entry
  • Extensions require applying at the Nicaraguan immigration office before the limit expires, or leaving the CA-4 zone entirely (e.g. to Costa Rica or Panama) and re-entering to reset the count

  • Tourist card fee: around USD 10 at land borders, around USD 13 at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (Managua), payable in USD cash
  • Issued immediately on arrival; no advance processing
  • Extension applications take a few days and cost roughly USD 20-25
