Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • Apply well in advance: allow at least 3 working days; apply 1–2 weeks before travel to be safe; consider extra time during holidays.
  • Common rejection reasons (general): incomplete or inconsistent personal data; passport data mismatch; incorrect travel details; insufficient funds (if requested); previous visa refusals or overstays can affect approval.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: e-visa is applied online directly via the official portal; if you choose to apply via a Myanmar embassy/consulate instead, different docs and fees apply and processing times may vary.
  • Travel advisories: check UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) travel advisories for Myanmar; ensure you meet entry requirements; visa validity and entry restrictions can change.
  • Extension options inside Myanmar: tourist visa single-entry; extensions may be possible at the Yangon/ Myawaddy Immigration Office; contact local authorities for current extension rules; carry the e-visa approval and passport for any extension requests.
