  • Biometrics: Biometrics data is not usually submitted as part of the online e-visa application; Iraqi immigration may collect biometrics on arrival if required.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for the e-visa itself; highly recommended to have comprehensive travel health coverage for the trip.

Tips for United Kingdom travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: It is wise to apply at least 2 weeks before travel; apply earlier during peak travel seasons to avoid delays.
  • Common rejection reasons for UK applicants: Mismatched name or passport data, passport validity too short, incomplete or inconsistent travel details,/uploaded documents not meeting requirements, or applying for a category not available to UK nationals.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: Iraq e-visa is accessed via the official online portal; there is no VFS/BLS processing for online e-visas. Embassy/consulate routes may be required for categories not available online.
  • Travel advisories: Check the UK government travel advice for Iraq before travel and stay updated on any bilateral advisories or restrictions.
  • Extension options inside Iraq: Extensions may be possible through Iraqi immigration authorities, but are not guaranteed; you may need to apply for an extension before your visa expires or consider exiting and re-entering with a new e-visa from the portal, subject to rules at that time.
