  • Extended tourist visa - for those wanting to stay beyond the 90-day annual limit, applied for at a local immigration office inside Ecuador
  • Temporary resident visa - longer-term category for work, investment, or retirement, applied for separately and not relevant to short visits

  • Once the 90 days are used up, re-entry as a tourist is not possible until the following calendar year unless an extension or different visa is obtained
  • No paid employment allowed on visitor status
