Guide last updated October 20, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
  • Two recent passport-sized photos (35mm x 45mm, white background) taken within the last 6 months
  • Travel medical insurance covering all Schengen states for at least EUR 30,000, valid for the full trip
  • Confirmed round-trip flight reservation
  • Hotel bookings or an invitation letter from a host in Slovakia
  • Bank statements for the last 6 months and an employment letter/NOC or business registration
  • Biometrics (10 fingerprints and a digital photo) are mandatory at the visa centre and are reused for 5 years
  • Cover letter explaining the purpose and itinerary of the trip

Visa types

  • Schengen Visa Type C (Tourist/Visit): single or multiple entry, stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period
  • Schengen Visa Type C (Business): for conferences, meetings, or trade fairs, same 90/180-day limit
  • National Visa Type D: for study, work, or long-term stays over 90 days, issued directly by Slovakia rather than through the standard Schengen route

How to apply

  • Book an appointment online with the Slovakia Visa Application Centre in Islamabad
  • Attend in person to submit documents and give biometrics
  • Pay the visa fee and the centre's service fee on-site
  • Track the application status online; the Slovak Embassy makes the final decision, the visa centre only collects documents
  • Collect your passport once a decision is made, or opt for courier return

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 80 (about USD 87) for adults; EUR 40 for children aged 6-12; free for children under 6
  • Visa centre service fee: approximately PKR 6,000-9,000
  • Standard processing: 15 calendar days from the appointment, extendable up to 30-45 days during peak season or if additional documents are requested
  • No official express/priority option for Schengen visas

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply as early as possible — up to 6 months before travel and no later than 15 working days before departure
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient or inconsistent bank statements, weak ties to Pakistan, unclear travel purpose, incomplete insurance coverage
  • A documented travel history (especially prior Schengen, UK, or US visas) significantly improves approval chances
  • If you're visiting multiple Schengen countries, apply at the embassy of the country where you'll spend the most nights
  • Extensions inside the Schengen area are granted only in exceptional circumstances (medical emergency, force majeure)
