Guide last updated October 20, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • A Kuwait-based sponsor (relative, employer, or approved hotel/tour operator) to initiate the visa application
  • Passport-size photo, white background
  • Confirmed flight itinerary
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or sponsor's address/Civil ID details)
  • Bank statement showing sufficient funds
  • Medical fitness certificate (required for work/residency visas, not usually for short visit visas)
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) required on arrival for most visa categories at Kuwait International Airport

Visa types

  • Family Visit Visa: sponsored by a relative resident in Kuwait, valid up to 90 days, fee approximately KWD 3-10
  • Visit Visa (hotel/tour sponsor): sponsored by an approved hotel or tourism company, similar validity and fee
  • Business Visa: sponsored by a Kuwaiti company, requires an invitation letter, fee approximately KWD 10-20
  • Work/Residency Visa: requires employer sponsorship and Ministry of Interior approval before travel, with medical screening and civil ID processing after arrival

How to apply

  • Arrange a sponsor in Kuwait, since general open tourist visas are not typically available to Pakistani passport holders without a sponsor or a qualifying prior visa (a valid US/UK/Schengen/Canada/Australia visa or residency can sometimes qualify for e-visa eligibility)
  • The sponsor submits the visa application through Kuwait's Ministry of Interior e-services portal or at the relevant government office
  • Once approved, the sponsor shares the approval/reference number, which the traveler uses to travel and collect the visa on arrival or at the nearest Kuwaiti mission
  • Standard processing takes 3-10 working days once the sponsor submits the application
  • On arrival, complete biometric registration and any required medical screening at Kuwait International Airport

Fees & processing time

  • Family/visit visa fee: approximately KWD 3-10 (~USD 10-33)
  • Business visa fee: approximately KWD 10-20 (~USD 33-65)
  • Additional sponsor processing fees may apply depending on the sponsoring entity
  • Total estimated cost: USD 30-100 depending on visa type and sponsor fees
  • Standard processing: 3-10 working days after sponsor submission
  • Express processing may be available through some sponsors/agencies for an additional fee

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Confirm sponsorship arrangements well before planning travel dates, since Pakistani nationals generally cannot obtain a Kuwait visa without a qualifying sponsor or prior visa from select countries
  • Common rejection reasons: invalid or unverifiable sponsorship, incomplete documentation, prior visa violations in Kuwait or other GCC states
  • Check current eligibility rules on the official Ministry of Interior e-visa portal (evisa.moi.gov.kw), as GCC e-visa eligibility criteria change periodically
  • Monitor bilateral labor and travel advisories, since Kuwait periodically updates visa policies for Pakistani nationals
  • Extensions and status changes while in Kuwait must be processed through the Ministry of Interior's residency affairs offices
