What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date
  • Completed online e-Visa application form
  • Recent passport-style photo, white background, 45x45mm
  • Proof of onward or return travel
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Bank statement or proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • No biometrics required for the e-Visa itself, but fingerprints may be taken on arrival at San Salvador airport
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: single entry, valid for use within 90 days of issue, permits a stay of up to 90 days, approximate fee USD 10
  • CA-4 regional stay: once admitted, Pakistani travelers may also move within Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua without a separate visa for the same trip
  • Business e-Visa: same validity and stay period, requires an invitation letter from a Salvadoran company

How to apply online

  • Apply through El Salvador's official immigration portal linked from rree.gob.sv
  • Create an account, fill in the application form and upload passport bio page, photo and supporting documents
  • Pay the fee online by credit or debit card (approximately USD 10)
  • Processing typically takes 3-5 business days
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF; print it and carry it along with your passport
  • Present the printed e-Visa approval, passport and return ticket to immigration on arrival

Fees & processing time

  • E-Visa fee: approximately USD 10
  • No separate service center fee since the process is fully online
  • Total cost estimate: USD 10-15 including printing and incidental costs
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 business days
  • No official express service; apply at least 2 weeks before travel to allow for delays

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before your trip since online systems for Central America can be slow to process from Pakistan
  • Common rejection reasons include incomplete financial proof and missing confirmed return tickets
  • Keep both digital and printed copies of your approval letter
  • There is no Salvadoran embassy in Pakistan, so all communication is handled online or through the nearest regional mission
  • Extensions beyond 90 days are rare and require an in-person application at Salvadoran immigration (Direccion General de Migracion y Extranjeria)
