Bulgaria Visa for Pakistan Citizens 2026

Pakistani citizens need a Schengen short-stay visa to visit Bulgaria, applied via VFS Global in Islamabad or Karachi; fee is EUR 80, with standard processing of up to 15 working days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Completed and signed Schengen visa application form
  • Two recent biometric photos (35mm x 45mm, white background)
  • Confirmed round-trip flight reservation
  • Proof of accommodation covering the whole stay in Bulgaria
  • Bank statements for the last 6 months showing sufficient funds (generally EUR 50 per day as a guideline)
  • Travel medical insurance valid across the Schengen area with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and digital photo) collected in person at the VFS Global application center
  • Employment letter/NOC or business registration documents, plus income tax returns for salaried/self-employed applicants

Visa types

  • Schengen Type C (Short-stay Visa): Tourist/Business/Family visit, valid up to 90 days within a 180-day period, single, double or multiple entry, fee EUR 80
  • Schengen Type C Transit: for connecting through Bulgaria to another destination, same validity rules, fee EUR 80
  • Type D (National Long-stay Visa): for study, work or long-term family reunification, fee EUR 100, processed through the Bulgarian Embassy rather than VFS

How to apply

  • Bulgaria operates as a full Schengen member for both air, sea and land border purposes, so the standard Schengen visa procedure applies.
  • Book an appointment through VFS Global's Bulgaria visa page covering Pakistan
  • Complete the Schengen application form online and print it
  • Attend the appointment with the full document set and pay the visa fee plus VFS service charge
  • Provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at the center
  • Track the application online; the passport with the visa sticker is returned via the center or courier

  • Schengen visa fee: EUR 80 (about PKR 25,000)
  • VFS Global service fee: approximately PKR 7,000-9,000 additional
  • Standard processing time: up to 15 working days, though it can extend to 30 days during peak season or if additional checks are needed
  • No official express service for Bulgaria through VFS Pakistan; plan well ahead

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply at least 4-6 weeks before travel given the standard 15-day (sometimes longer) processing window
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient funds, weak ties to Pakistan, unclear travel purpose, or inconsistent travel history
