What you need

  • Passport valid for the entire intended stay in Australia
  • ImmiAccount registration to lodge the application online
  • Form 1419 (Visitor visa application) completed digitally through ImmiAccount
  • Proof of financial capacity: bank statements for the last 3-6 months
  • Evidence of strong ties to Pakistan (employment letter, property, family)
  • Confirmed accommodation and travel itinerary
  • Passport-size digital photo meeting Australian visa photo specifications
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at an Australian Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) in Pakistan
  • Travel/health insurance recommended, not mandatory for most visitor visa applicants

Visa types

  • Visitor visa (subclass 600), Tourist stream: stay up to 3, 6 or 12 months, multiple entry, fee from AUD 150
  • Visitor visa (subclass 600), Business Visitor stream: for short business trips, similar fee structure
  • Visitor visa (subclass 600), Sponsored Family stream: requires an Australian sponsor, fee higher (~AUD 365)

How to apply online

  • Create an ImmiAccount at the Department of Home Affairs website
  • Complete the online application form, upload scanned supporting documents
  • Pay the visa application fee by credit/debit card through ImmiAccount
  • Book and attend a biometrics appointment at the VFS Global center in Islamabad, Karachi, or Lahore
  • Track the application status in ImmiAccount; the decision and visa grant notice are delivered electronically (no physical stamp or sticker)

Fees & processing time

  • Base application fee (Tourist stream): AUD 150
  • VFS Global biometrics/service fee: approx. AUD 50-70 equivalent in PKR
  • Total estimated cost: AUD 200-220
  • Standard processing time: published guidance is around 29 days for most applications, but Pakistani applications often take 8-12 weeks due to additional character and bona fide checks
  • No official priority/express processing option for this subclass

Tips for Pakistan travelers

  • Apply at least 3 months before the planned travel date given longer processing for Pakistani applicants
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient evidence of ties to Pakistan, weak financial documentation, unclear travel purpose
  • Submit a detailed cover letter explaining the purpose and itinerary of the trip
  • Using the VFS Global premium lounge service (optional, extra fee) can speed up document submission but not visa decision time
  • Extensions while in Australia are possible by lodging a new subclass 600 application before the current visa expires
