US citizens can obtain a visa on arrival in Rwanda at Kigali International Airport (and select border posts) for tourism or business; the visa is single-entry, valid 30 days, with a fee of USD 50.

What you need

  • Passport validity: must be valid for at least 6 months beyond date of entry and have at least one blank page.

How to apply: Visa on arrival

  • Visa on arrival: available at Kigali International Airport and at select land border posts; steps: arrive in Rwanda, proceed to immigration, complete the visa-on-arrival form provided, present your passport and one or two recent photos if requested, pay the visa fee in cash (USD or local currency), biometric data may be collected, and the visa is issued on the spot.
  • Fees and accepted currencies: visa fee paid in cash at the port; accepted currencies commonly include USD and RWF; have the exact amount ready.
