What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry; ensure you have at least 2 blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: No separate Iraqi visa form; complete the online application on the official portal https://evisa.gov.iq/ and upload a scanned copy of the passport data page.
  • Financial proof: Not typically required for the Tourist e-visa; you should have access to sufficient funds if asked by authorities, but there is no explicit bank statement requirement in the portal.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation is not required in the online application; carry hotel bookings or contact details, and have a return/ onward travel plan in case border officers request it.
  • Photo spec: You must upload a recent passport-style photo; the portal provides the required specs during application and accepts uploads in the supported format.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics data collection is generally performed at the port of entry upon arrival; there is no separate online appointment for Iraqi e-visa holders.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory for the e-visa; having travel medical insurance is recommended.

  • Journalist/Media e-visa (E-Visa Journalist/Media): Official name E-Visa Journalist/Media; Validity 90 days; Max stay 30 days; Entry: Single; Approx fee 110 USD; IQD approx 165,000.

How to apply online

Tips for United States travelers
