Tips for United States travelers

  • Keep track of your Cyprus-specific 90/180 day count separately from any Schengen travel, since Cyprus isn't yet part of the Schengen Area's shared day count.
  • Rejections are uncommon for US citizens but can occur if you can't show onward travel plans or if your passport is heavily worn/damaged.
  • There's no VFS/BLS decision needed since no visa application is involved for short stays.
  • Watch for Cyprus's planned future entry into the Schengen Area, which would change these rules once implemented.
  • For longer stays, apply for a Cypriot visa or residence permit well in advance through a Cypriot consulate.
