Visa on Arrival

US citizens can get a visa on arrival at Cambodia's international airports and major land borders for USD 30, or apply for an e-visa in advance at evisa.gov.kh for about USD 36.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least one blank page
  • Completed arrival visa application form (available at the airport/border, or filled in advance via the e-visa portal)
  • One passport-style photo (4x6 cm); a fee of about USD 2 applies if you don't have one
  • Proof of accommodation and return/onward ticket
  • Sufficient cash (USD) to pay the visa fee if applying on arrival
  • No yellow fever certificate required unless arriving from a risk country

Visa types

  • Tourist visa on arrival (T-class) — single entry, valid 30 days, fee USD 30
  • Ordinary/business visa on arrival (E-class) — single entry, valid 30 days (extendable in-country), fee USD 35
  • E-visa (tourist only) — applied for online in advance, fee USD 36 total (including processing fee), valid 30 days, usable at major airports and some land borders

  • Available at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville international airports, and most major land border crossings
  • On arrival, complete the application form, submit your photo and passport, and pay the fee in USD cash
  • Processing at the counter typically takes 5-15 minutes outside of peak hours
  • Alternatively, apply online in advance via the official evisa.gov.kh portal (fee ~USD 36, processing about 3 business days) to skip the on-arrival queue
  • Avoid unofficial websites charging inflated fees for the e-visa — use the official government portal only

  • Visa on arrival fee: USD 30 (tourist) or USD 35 (ordinary/business), cash only
  • Extra USD 2 fee if you don't bring a photo
  • E-visa fee (official site): approx. USD 36 total, processing about 3 business days
  • No separate service agency fee required if using the official portal or paying directly at the border

Tips for United States travelers

  • Bring exact USD cash for the on-arrival fee to avoid unfavorable exchange rates at the counter
  • Pre-arranging the e-visa online saves time at busy airports like Siem Reap during peak tourist season
  • Watch for scam websites that mimic the official e-visa portal and charge much higher fees — only use evisa.gov.kh
  • The 30-day tourist visa can be extended once at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh for an additional fee
  • Register your trip with the US Embassy in Phnom Penh through the State Department's STEP program
