Chinese citizens can obtain a Visa on Arrival at Zimbabwe's main airports and land borders; the single-entry tourist visa costs USD 30 and is issued on the spot after a short immigration queue, though applying online in advance via evisa.gov.zw is also available.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • Completed arrival visa application form (available at the port of entry, or online in advance)
  • Proof of accommodation and return/onward ticket
  • Sufficient cash (USD) to pay the visa fee, as card payment is not always reliable at all ports
  • Passport photo is not usually required for the on-arrival process but is needed if applying via the online e-visa system
  • Yellow fever certificate if arriving from or transiting a country with risk of transmission

Visa types

  • Single Entry Visa: valid for up to 30 days, fee USD 30
  • Double Entry Visa: allows two entries within the validity period, fee USD 45, useful for side trips to Zambia or Victoria Falls on the Zambian side
  • KAZA UniVisa: a joint Zimbabwe-Zambia visa covering both countries and day trips to Botswana's Chobe area, valid 30 days, fee USD 50, available at major entry points including Victoria Falls and Harare/Livingstone airports

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Harare, Victoria Falls, and Bulawayo international airports, as well as major land borders such as Victoria Falls Bridge and Beitbridge
  • On arrival, join the visa line before immigration, complete the arrival form, and pay the fee in USD cash (some ports accept card)
  • The KAZA UniVisa, if desired, must be specifically requested at eligible entry points
  • Queue times vary from a few minutes to over an hour at busy periods (Victoria Falls and Harare during peak season)
  • Pre-applying online via evisa.gov.zw ahead of travel lets you skip part of the on-arrival paperwork, with approval emailed within a few days

Tips for China travelers

  • Carry exact USD cash in small denominations, as change is not always readily available at border posts
  • Pre-applying for the e-visa online is advisable during peak tourist season to reduce arrival queue time
  • Common issues: insufficient USD cash on hand, or missing proof of onward travel for double-entry/KAZA applicants
  • If planning to visit both Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe side) and Zambia, request the KAZA UniVisa rather than two separate visas
  • Extensions beyond 30 days can be requested at immigration offices in Harare or Bulawayo before the visa expires
