What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • No visa, application form, or photo is required in advance
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket and proof of accommodation may be requested at the border
  • Evidence of sufficient funds can be requested, though rarely checked for Chinese passport holders under the exemption
  • No biometrics are collected on entry beyond the standard facial photo taken at UAE immigration counters/Smart Gates for all arriving travelers
  • Travel health insurance is recommended but not mandatory

Visa types

Tips for China travelers

  • Carry proof of onward travel and accommodation even though checks are infrequent, since immigration officers retain discretion to request them
  • Register your arrival address if staying in private accommodation rather than a hotel, as some emirates require it
  • If your trip may extend past 90 days, plan an exit and re-entry, or arrange a sponsored visa before the visa-free period expires, since UAE overstay fines accrue daily
  • Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports have efficient Smart Gate e-passport lanes that most Chinese travelers with biometric passports can use, speeding up arrival
