Chinese citizens traveling to Turkey can apply for an e-Visa (Tourism or Business) online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/; typical fee around USD 60; visa valid for 180 days with up to 90 days stay per visit; processing usually within 24 hours.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Turkey.
  • Specific forms: There are no separate paper forms; apply online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/ and complete the online application.
  • Financial proof: There is no fixed bank statement requirement for the e-visa application. You do not need to upload or show funds to obtain an e-visa, but you should have sufficient funds to cover your stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Not required to submit with the e-visa application, but have hotel reservations or proof of accommodation and a return or onward ticket handy in case you are asked on entry.
  • Photo spec: Upload a color passport-style photo as part of the online application. The photo should be recent (within 6 months), with a plain light background and the subject facing the camera directly.
  • Biometrics: No in-person biometrics submission is required for the online e-visa.
  • Travel health insurance: Not required for the e-visa application, but having travel health insurance is strongly recommended.

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa (Turizm) — Official name: e-Visa for Tourism; Validity: 180 days from issue date; Max stay: up to 90 days per visit; Entry: Multiple entries allowed; Approx fee: USD 60.
  • Business e-Visa (Is TICARI) — Official name: e-Visa for Business; Validity: 180 days from issue date; Max stay: up to 90 days per visit; Entry: Multiple entries allowed; Approx fee: USD 60.
  • Student e-Visa — Not available via online e-Visa for Turkey. Applicants needing study stay must apply through a Turkish embassy/consulate with a proper Turkish student visa process.
  • Work e-Visa — Not available via online e-Visa; work permits and Turkish consular visa procedures are required separately.

How to apply online

  • Step 1: Go to https://www.evisa.gov.tr/
  • Step 2: Click Apply and select Turkey, then choose your nationality (China) and travel purpose (Tourism or Business).
  • Step 3: Fill in the applicant details exactly as shown on your passport (name, date of birth, passport number, issue/expiry dates).
  • Step 4: Upload the required photo (if prompted) and confirm travel dates.
  • Step 5: Review all information for accuracy and pay the visa fee with a credit/debit card. The fee is shown in USD during the application (typical amount around 60 USD).
  • Step 6: After payment, you will be able to download and print your e-Visa from the portal; you may also receive a confirmation by email.
  • Step 7: Present the printed e-Visa (or e-Visa entry on your mobile device) to border control on arrival.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: USD 60 for Chinese citizens applying for either Tourist or Business e-Visa. Local currency equivalent (TRY) is shown during application and depends on current exchange rates (roughly around 1,600–1,900 TRY at typical rates, but this varies).
  • VFS/BLS service fee: Not applicable for online e-Visa.
  • Total cost estimate: USD 60 (plus any card processing fees if your bank imposes them).
  • Standard processing time: Typically instant to within 24 hours; most applicants receive approval quickly after payment.
  • Express/priority option: Not available for the official e-Visa process.

Tips for China travelers

  • Apply at least 3–4 days before your planned travel date to allow for any processing delays.
  • Common rejection reasons for China applicants specifically: passport data mismatch between the application and passport, travel purpose not matching chosen visa type, photo not meeting guidelines, passport validity less than 6 months remaining, or errors in personal details.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: This is an online e-Visa; there is no VFS/BLS submission for e-Visas. If you need a different visa type (e.g., study or work), you must apply through the Turkish embassy/consulate.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Check the latest entry requirements and travel advisories on https://www.mfa.gov.tr/ and updates on https://www.evisa.gov.tr/ before you travel, as rules can change.
  • Extension options inside Turkey: There is no option to extend an e-Visa while in Turkey. If you exceed the allowed stay, you should depart and may need to obtain a new visa for re-entry; for longer stays, explore appropriate Turkish visa routes or residence permits with official authorities.
