Tips for China travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: Apply at least 2–3 weeks before planned travel to account for processing and potential document corrections.
  • Common rejection reasons for China applicants: Passport validity too short; missing required documents or hotel/invitation details; photo quality issues; inconsistent travel dates; failure to demonstrate sufficient funds or return ticket when requested.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: For the e-visa, use the official visa.gouv.tg portal; there is no VFS/BLS process for the e-visa; avoid third-party services that promise guaranteed approvals.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Always check current travel advisories from both Chinese and Togolese authorities; ensure visa policy hasn't changed.
  • Extension options inside Togo: Extensions vary; border authorities may grant limited extensions; contact Togolese immigration before travel for current rules; plan for possible visa extension if needed.
