How to apply online

  • How to apply online: Go to https://www.evisa.tj/ and select the e-visa category you need; fill the application form with your personal details, travel purpose, dates, and entry point.
  • Upload documents: passport data page scan, passport-style photo; ensure accuracy in spelling and dates.
  • Pay the fee: Pay online with a credit or debit card (USD; the site will show the local currency equivalent if needed).
  • Processing time: typical processing is 1–3 working days; in peak periods it may take longer (up to 5 days).
  • Approval delivery: the approved e-visa is sent to the email you provided or available for download from your evisa.tj account; print a copy and carry it during travel.
  • On arrival: present the e-visa approval alongside your passport at border control; ensure the visa is valid for your intended dates.
  • Notes: There is no requirement for in-person biometrics; ensure you apply well before your trip.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee (USD): Tourist e-Visa up to 50 USD; Business e-Visa up to 60 USD; exact amount shown during application.
  • Local currency: The portal accepts major credit/debit cards; some banks may show currency conversion; there is no separate VFS/BLS service fee for e-visas.
  • Total cost estimate: 50–60 USD depending on category; no additional embassy fees if applying online.
  • Standard processing time: 1–3 working days; express options are not listed publicly; plan accordingly.
  • Note: If you choose longer validity or multiple-entry options, fees will reflect the category.

Tips for China travelers

  • Apply well in advance: start the e-visa process at least 5–7 working days before your planned travel; during holidays or peak travel times allow extra days.
  • Common rejection reasons for Chinese applicants: mismatched passport data (name, date of birth), travel dates not aligning with the passport validity, missing hotel/address details, or incomplete uploaded documents.
  • Use official portal: evisa.tj is the official Tajikistan e-visa portal; there is no separate visa-on-arrival desk for e-visas.
  • Travel advisories: check the Tajikistan embassy or foreign ministry for current advisories and entry requirements; ensure your passport and visa pages comply with border control.
  • Extensions: e-visas issued online are generally not extendable from within Tajikistan; if you need more time, you may need to exit Tajikistan and reapply online or obtain a new e-visa via the portal; contact the local migration service for any exceptions.
  • Health: there are no mandatory vaccinations for entry; ensure you have travel health insurance that covers medical emergencies while in Tajikistan.
  • Practical tips: carry a printed copy and a digital copy of your e-visa; keep hotel confirmations handy in case border control asks; ensure you have sufficient funds for your stay.
