Slovakia Visa for China Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Chinese citizens need a Schengen visa to visit Slovakia, applied for through the Slovak embassy or an authorized visa application center, valid for short stays of up to 90 days within 180 days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with 2 blank pages
  • Completed Schengen visa application form
  • 2 recent biometric photos (35mm x 45mm)
  • Travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage valid across the Schengen area
  • Proof of accommodation and a detailed travel itinerary
  • Proof of financial means (bank statements, last 3-6 months)
  • Biometrics (10 fingerprints and photo) collected in person at the visa application center
  • Employment certificate/leave approval letter, and an invitation letter if applicable

Visa types

  • Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C), Tourist: single or multiple entry, up to 90 days within 180 days, fee EUR 90
  • Schengen Short-Stay Visa, Business: same validity rules, requires a business invitation letter, fee EUR 90
  • Airport Transit Visa (Type A): for travelers transiting through a Schengen airport without entering, fee EUR 90, required only for certain nationalities

How to apply

  • Apply at the Slovak Embassy in Beijing or through an authorized visa application center (such as VFS Global, where available) in major Chinese cities
  • Documents checklist: application form, passport, photos, insurance certificate, bank statements, hotel/itinerary proof, employment letter
  • Fee is paid in CNY equivalent of EUR 90, plus a visa center service fee of roughly CNY 150-200 if using a third-party center
  • Standard processing time is 15 calendar days, extendable up to 30-45 days during peak season or if additional documents are requested
  • In-person biometric appointment is mandatory; an interview may be required depending on the case

  • Visa application center service fee: approximately CNY 150-200 (~USD 21-28), if applicable

Tips for China travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel to account for appointment scheduling plus the 15-day processing window
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient financial proof, unclear or inconsistent travel itinerary, or ties to China not clearly demonstrated (employment, property, family)
  • Book the Schengen visa through the member state that is the main destination or first point of entry, which should be Slovakia if it is your primary stop
  • No current bilateral travel advisory restricts Chinese nationals
  • Extensions within the Schengen area are rarely granted; plan the full itinerary duration into the initial application
