China citizens can apply for an e-Visa to Pakistan online at https://onlinemfa.gov.pk/; typical processing time is 3-5 working days; Tourist e-Visa fee around USD 60; maximum stay per visit is 90 days.

What you need

  • Passport validity: your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Pakistan, and you must have at least one blank visa page.
  • Specific forms: there is no separate paper form for Pakistan e-Visa; complete the online application on the official portal and upload scanned documents.
  • Financial proof: there is no mandatory cash-flow proof required for the e-Visa, but you should carry funds sufficient for your stay (recommended at least USD 100 per day).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: provide hotel bookings or invitation letter where applicable; include a return/onward air ticket if possible.
  • Photo spec: a recent passport-style color photo in JPG or PNG; size 2x2 inches (35x45 mm), white background, no sunglasses; file size under 1 MB; ensure head is centered and faces forward.
  • Biometrics: not required at the time of online application; may be requested upon arrival if applicable.
  • Travel health insurance: not mandatory, but highly recommended for medical coverage during your stay.

  • Tourist e-Visa: Official name Tourist e-Visa; Validity up to 1 year; Max stay per visit 90 days; Entry: multiple entries supported; Approx fee: USD 60 (PKR equivalent shown during application).
  • Business e-Visa: Official name Business e-Visa; Validity up to 1 year; Max stay per visit 90 days; Entry: multiple entries; Approx fee: USD 100.
  • Student e-Visa: Official name Student e-Visa; Validity up to 1 year (or duration of study if shorter); Max stay per visit 90 days; Entry: multiple entries; Approx fee: USD 60.
  • Work e-Visa: Official name Work e-Visa; Validity up to 1 year; Max stay per visit 90 days; Entry: multiple entries; Approx fee: USD 150.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: go to https://onlinemfa.gov.pk/ and create an account or log in.
  • Steps: select visa category, complete the online form with personal, passport and travel details, upload required documents (scanned passport data page, photo, invitation letter or hotel/itinerary as applicable), pay the visa fee online, submit the application.
  • Payment: pay via Visa/MasterCard or other online payment methods displayed on the portal; no VFS/BLS payment for e-Visas.
  • Processing time: standard processing is 3-5 working days after submission.
  • Approval: you will receive an email with your e-Visa; you can also log in to the portal to download or print it.
  • On arrival: carry a printed copy of the e-Visa with your passport; border control will verify them on entry.
  • Biometrics: not required during processing; may be requested at entry if needed.
  • Extensions or changes: if you need to extend or modify your visa, contact Pakistan Immigration at least 7 days before expiry through the official portal or MOFA.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fees (approximate USD and local currency): Tourist USD 60 (PKR about 16,800); Business USD 100 (PKR about 28,000); Student USD 60 (PKR about 16,800); Work USD 150 (PKR about 42,000).
  • Local currency: PKR equivalents shown above are approximate and vary with exchange rates; the online portal will display the exact PKR amount at the time of payment.
  • VFS/BLS service fee: not applicable for e-Visas; no additional embassy processing charges are paid at the time of application.
  • Total cost estimate: sum of the visa fee; any extra charges would appear if you opt for expedited processing (if offered by the portal).
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 working days; expedited processing options may be available and will show during application if offered.

Tips for China travelers

  • Apply well in advance: although standard processing is 3-5 days, apply at least 2-3 weeks before travel to accommodate potential delays and document checks.
  • Common rejection reasons for Chinese applicants: passport validity less than 6 months, mismatch between passport data and travel details, missing or unreadable documents, photo not meeting requirements, incomplete application, or lack of supporting documents such as an invitation letter for Business/Study/Work.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: for e-Visa you should apply online via the official portal; you generally do not need to visit a VFS/BLS center.
  • Travel advisories: check the latest travel advisories from the Pakistan MOFA and your destination updates; ensure you meet entry requirements and have your documents in order.
  • Extension options inside Pakistan: extensions can be requested through the Pakistan Immigration Department/FIA; apply before your current visa expires; extensions may be granted for a further period (often up to 90 days) with applicable fees; use the official portal or MOFA channels for guidance.
