What you need

  • Passport validity: passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry into Chad and contain at least 2 blank visa pages.

  • Financial proof: no fixed minimum requirement; ensure you have access to sufficient funds. Recommended showing at least USD 500 available for the trip (or an equivalent bank statement).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: confirmed hotel booking or address of stay in Chad and a return/onward ticket.
  • Photo spec: one recent (within the last 6 months) passport-style photo, 35x45 mm, white background, in JPEG format, max 1 MB.
  • Biometrics: not required as a separate appointment for the e-visa; biometric data may be collected at border control on arrival if needed.
  • Travel health insurance: recommended but not mandatory; consider coverage for medical emergencies and evacuation.
  • Yellow fever/health certificates: Yellow fever vaccination certificate is strongly advised; Chad may request proof depending on origin and transit.

  • Student visa (visa d'etudes): Official name: visa d'etudes; Typically requires embassy processing; not guaranteed as an online e-visa; contact the Chad embassy for exact process and fees.
  • Work visa (visa de travail): Official name: visa de travail; Usually processed via embassy; not typically available as standard e-visa; contact the Chad embassy for requirements and fees.
  • Other official/Transit or diplomatic categories: Check the official portal for availability; embassy may issue accordingly.

How to apply online

  • Go to the official Chad e-visa portal linked from https://www.ambassade-tchad.org/ and create an account.
  • Complete the online application form with personal data, passport details, travel plan, and visa type.
  • Upload required documents: passport bio page, passport-style photo, and any supporting documents (hotel booking, invitation letter for business).
  • Pay the visa fee in USD or XAF using the payment gateway.
  • Submit and wait for processing; you will receive an email with the e-visa approval or a link to download the e-visa.
  • Print the e-visa and present it on arrival; border officers at NDJ (N'Djamena International Airport) or other permitted entry points will verify.
  • Processing time: typically 3–5 working days; note that holidays and peak periods may extend times; avoid relying on weekends.
  • Approval arrives by email and/or can be downloaded from your portal account.
