Guide last updated September 25, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • Digital passport-style photo (color, white background) uploaded during the online application
  • Confirmed return/onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking)
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • No advance biometric enrollment; fingerprints and photo are captured on arrival at the port of entry
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, though not mandatory for the tourist e-Visa
  • Some nationalities require a local sponsor for certain e-Visa categories, but the standard tourist e-Visa for Kenyan citizens does not require one

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa (single entry): valid for use within 30 days of issue, permits a stay of up to 30 days, extendable once for an additional 30 days, fee OMR 20
  • Tourist e-Visa (multiple entry): permits multiple visits within a 1-year validity window, each stay up to 30 days, fee OMR 50
  • Unsponsored e-Visa is only available for holders of a valid Schengen, US, UK, Australian, Canadian, or Japanese visa/residence — standard Kenyan applicants apply under the regular tourist e-Visa category
  • Business e-Visa: requires an invitation/sponsor letter from an Omani company, processed via the same evisa.rop.gov.om portal

How to apply online

  • Apply at evisa.rop.gov.om, the official Royal Oman Police e-Visa portal
  • Create an account, complete the online form, upload your photo and passport bio page
  • Pay the fee by Visa or Mastercard (OMR 20 for single-entry tourist e-Visa)
  • Processing takes 3-5 business days on average; the approved e-Visa is sent by email as a PDF
  • Print the e-Visa and present it with your passport at the port of entry (Muscat International Airport or land/sea borders); no additional visa stamp is required beyond the printed e-Visa and passport check
  • The Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs (mofa.gov.om) can be contacted for consular matters outside the standard e-Visa process

Fees & processing time

  • Single-entry tourist e-Visa: OMR 20 (approximately USD 52); multiple-entry: OMR 50 (approximately USD 130)
  • No separate service fee since the application is submitted directly through the government portal
  • Standard processing: 3-5 business days
  • No official express option; applying at least a week before travel is recommended

Tips for Kenya travelers

  • Apply at least 7-10 days before departure to allow time for processing and any resubmission if documents are unclear
  • Common rejection reasons include a blurry photo, a passport bio page that is not fully legible, or mismatched name spelling between the form and passport
  • There is no VFS or BLS center required for the e-Visa, but the Oman embassy in Nairobi (via mofa.gov.om contacts) can assist with questions the online helpdesk cannot resolve
  • Keep a printed copy of the e-Visa approval, as some airlines require it at check-in in addition to the passport
  • Extensions of the 30-day stay can be applied for once, for an additional 30 days, through the Royal Oman Police portal before the initial visa expires
