Uganda Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

German citizens need an e-visa for Uganda — apply online at visas.immigration.go.ug before travel; single-entry tourist e-visa costs USD 50, processing 3-5 business days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay, with a blank page
  • Completed online application at visas.immigration.go.ug
  • Passport-size photo (35x45mm, white background), uploaded digitally
  • Proof of accommodation and return/onward ticket
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for entry into Uganda)
  • No biometrics submitted with the application; fingerprints are taken on arrival
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Single-entry Tourist e-visa: up to 3 months, USD 50
  • Single-entry Business e-visa: up to 3 months, USD 50
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: multi-entry, covers Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, 90 days, USD 100
  • Multiple-entry e-visa: up to 12 months validity, USD 100, subject to purpose approval

How to apply online

  • Create an account at visas.immigration.go.ug
  • Complete the online form and upload passport bio page, photo and yellow fever certificate
  • Pay the USD 50 tourist fee by credit or debit card
  • Standard processing takes 3-5 business days
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF — print it and present it with your passport on arrival at Entebbe International Airport or a land border

  • Business e-visa: USD 50
  • East Africa Tourist Visa: USD 100
  • No separate service fee when applying directly on the government portal
  • Standard processing: 3-5 business days
  • No official expedited option — apply at least 2 weeks ahead

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Apply at least 1-2 weeks before departure
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate, blurry photo, incomplete accommodation proof
  • Use only the official government portal to avoid third-party scam sites
  • Extensions of up to 3 months are possible at the immigration office in Kampala for an additional fee
  • Check the Auswärtiges Amt travel advisory before departure
