  • Book lodging ahead of arrival, as Funafuti has only a handful of guesthouses and hotels
  • Carry more cash than usual, since card acceptance is very limited outside the main hotel
  • There are no known bilateral restrictions for German travelers; the 90-day visa-free policy has been stable
  • If planning research, diving, or volunteer work, clarify in advance with Tuvaluan authorities whether a work permit is needed, since enforcement can be stricter than it first appears for such a small jurisdiction
