Tajikistan Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

Visa Free

German citizens can obtain a Tajikistan e-visa online in advance, valid for a single entry stay of up to 30 days, through the official evisa.tj portal.

Guide last updated September 10, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, with at least one blank page
  • Completed online e-visa application via evisa.tj
  • Digital passport-style photo uploaded during the application (passport photo page scan also required)
  • Proof of accommodation is not typically required for the e-visa but is good practice to carry
  • No biometrics required for the e-visa
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, particularly for travel to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO permit needed separately for that area)

Visa types

  • e-Visa (Tourist/Business) - single entry, valid for use within 90 days of issue, maximum stay of 30-45 days depending on category, fee approximately USD 50-75
  • GBAO Permit - required as an add-on for travel to the Pamir region, obtainable through the same e-visa portal for an additional fee of around USD 20
  • Ordinary sticker visa - available through the Tajik embassy for longer stays or multiple entries, fee varies by category

Entry conditions

  • Not applicable - a visa is required rather than visa-free entry; travelers should apply for the e-visa before travel

Fees & processing time

  • e-Visa fee: approximately USD 50-75, payable online by credit card
  • GBAO permit add-on: approximately USD 20 if traveling to the Pamirs
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee - the e-visa system is self-service
  • Standard processing time: 3-5 business days
  • Express processing (24-72 hours) is available for an additional fee of roughly USD 20-30

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Apply at least 1-2 weeks before travel to allow for standard processing and any follow-up document requests
  • Common rejection reasons include blurry photo uploads and passport scans with less than 6 months' validity
  • Add the GBAO permit at the time of e-visa application if visiting the Pamir Highway region, as it cannot always be added later
  • Print a copy of the e-visa approval to present on arrival alongside your passport
  • Extensions inside Tajikistan are handled through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular department in Dushanbe
