What you need

  • Passport-style digital photo uploaded during the online application (JPEG, white background, no glasses)

  • Travel health insurance covering the stay is strongly recommended; proof may be requested on arrival
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the stay (bank statement or credit card)

Visa types

  • Tourist eTA — single entry, valid 60 days from issue, max stay 60 days, fee approx USD 100
  • Business eTA — single entry, valid 60 days, max stay 60 days, requires an invitation letter from the host PNG company, fee approx USD 100
  • Multiple-entry and long-term visas are not available through the eTA system and must be arranged as a standard visa through the PNG High Commission

How to apply online

  • Apply via the official PNG eTA portal linked from https://www.immigration.gov.pg/
  • Steps: create an account, complete the online form with passport and trip details, upload a passport bio page scan and photo, pay the fee online by credit/debit card in USD
  • Processing time: typically 1-3 business days, though it can take up to 5 during peak periods
  • Approval is emailed as a PDF; print a copy and carry it alongside the passport when boarding and on arrival
  • Do not travel before the eTA shows as "Approved" in the portal — airlines will deny boarding on a "Pending" status

  • No official same-day express option; apply at least 7 days before travel to allow for delays
