What you need

  • Passport valid at least 6 months beyond entry
  • No Palestinian visa exists, since the Palestinian Authority does not control its own borders; entry to the West Bank is via Israeli-controlled crossings (Allenby/King Hussein Bridge from Jordan, or via Ben Gurion Airport then overland)
  • Proof of onward/return ticket
  • Proof of accommodation may be requested by Israeli border officials
  • Travel health insurance recommended

  • Expect secondary questioning at Israeli border control, particularly if your passport shows stamps from Muslim-majority countries or you mention West Bank travel plans - answer factually and simply
  • Carry proof of onward travel and accommodation
  • Check the current Federal Foreign Office travel advisory, which frequently updates guidance on the West Bank and strongly warns against any travel to Gaza
  • Re-entering Israel after visiting Palestinian Authority areas is generally unproblematic for tourists but can draw extra scrutiny
