Oman Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

German citizens can obtain a tourist visa on arrival at Omani airports, or apply in advance via Oman's eVisa portal; the on-arrival visa costs around OMR 5 and allows a single-entry stay of up to 10 days, extendable.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival, with at least one blank page
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking)
  • Sufficient funds for the stay (rarely checked, but recommended to carry proof)
  • A passport photo is not usually required at the on-arrival counter but is worth carrying
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory
  • Biometrics (photo, sometimes fingerprints) may be captured at the immigration counter

Visa types

  • Tourist visa on arrival: single entry, 10 days validity, extendable once for another 10 days
  • eVisa (pre-approved online): 30-day single or multiple entry options, arranged via evisa.rop.gov.om before travel for those who prefer not to queue on arrival
  • Unified GCC tourist route: Germans holding a valid US, UK, Schengen, or similar visa/residency can, in some cases, also use a simplified entry route

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Muscat International Airport and other official ports of entry
  • Present your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking at the visa counter before immigration
  • Pay the fee at the counter (cash in Omani Rial or major cards accepted at most terminals)
  • Processing at the counter typically takes 10-20 minutes depending on the queue
  • Queues can build up during peak evening arrival times; pre-applying online via the eVisa portal can save time

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: approximately OMR 5 (about USD 13) for the standard 10-day single-entry visa
  • eVisa (pre-approved) fee: approximately OMR 5-20 depending on validity and entry type
  • Extension fee (additional 10 days): approximately OMR 5, processed at the Royal Oman Police immigration office
  • Processing time for an eVisa applied in advance: typically 2-3 working days

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Pre-applying via the eVisa portal (evisa.rop.gov.om) before departure avoids airport queues and is recommended during peak travel periods
  • Dress and behavior norms in Oman are conservative; keep this in mind, especially during Ramadan
  • Carry a printed hotel confirmation even if not always checked, as it speeds up the on-arrival process
  • Oman's rial is a high-value currency (1 OMR is roughly 2.6 USD) — budget accordingly for the visa fee and other costs
  • Extensions must be requested before the initial 10 days expire; overstaying incurs daily fines
