Tips for Germany travelers

  • Carry a yellow fever certificate if you have transited through an endemic country within 6 days of arrival, as this can be checked at the border
  • Direct flights from Germany are not available; most travelers connect via Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, or Nairobi
  • If your trip may extend beyond 30 days, arrange the e-visa in advance rather than risking an on-the-spot extension
  • Carry small USD or Malawian Kwacha cash for any incidental fees
  • Malawi's immigration offices in Lilongwe and Blantyre handle visa-free extensions reasonably quickly, typically within a few business days
