Jordan Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

German citizens can obtain a visa on arrival at Jordanian airports and land borders — single-entry fee JOD 40, though it's waived for travelers on a Jordan Pass staying 3+ nights and buying the pass in advance.

Guide last updated September 9, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • One recent passport-style photo (recommended, though not always requested at the airport counter)
  • Confirmed return or onward travel ticket
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking)
  • Sufficient cash (JOD or major foreign currency) to pay the visa fee if not covered by a Jordan Pass
  • No biometrics beyond a standard photo/fingerprint scan at some border points
  • Travel health insurance is recommended, not mandatory

Visa types

  • Single-entry visa on arrival — fee JOD 40, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, extendable
  • Double-entry visa — fee JOD 60, arranged in advance through the embassy
  • Multiple-entry visa — fee JOD 120, arranged in advance through the embassy, valid up to 6 months
  • Jordan Pass (purchased online before arrival, from about JOD 70/USD 99) — bundles the entry visa fee (free if staying 3+ nights) with entry to Petra and other major sites

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Queen Alia International Airport (Amman), other international airports, and most land border crossings (except the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge from Israel, where it must be pre-arranged)
  • Present your passport and pay JOD 40 in cash at the visa counter before passport control, or show your pre-purchased Jordan Pass QR/printout to get the visa fee waived
  • Processing at the counter typically takes only a few minutes
  • Payment is accepted in Jordanian Dinar and often in USD or EUR, though JOD is preferred and gives the best rate
  • Queues can build up around peak flight arrival times — arriving on an earlier or less busy flight avoids long waits

Fees & processing time

  • Single-entry visa fee: JOD 40 (about USD 56), payable in cash on arrival
  • Jordan Pass: from JOD 70 (about USD 99), includes the visa fee if you stay 3+ nights
  • No separate service fee when paying directly at the border
  • Processing time: a few minutes at the visa desk
  • No expedited option needed — visas are issued immediately on arrival

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Buy the Jordan Pass online before departure if visiting Petra — it saves the JOD 40 visa fee and the separate Petra entrance fee
  • Carry small denomination cash (JOD or USD) since border currency exchange counters can have long queues
  • The King Hussein/Allenby Bridge border does not issue visas on arrival — enter via an airport or another land crossing, or pre-arrange a visa
  • Extensions beyond 30 days can be obtained at any police station in Jordan before the visa expires, generally free of charge for a first extension
