German citizens can apply for Chad's e-Visa online before travel - apply via the official Chad e-visa portal; fee approx. USD 170-200 depending on type, processing 3-5 business days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond entry, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Digital passport-style photo (uploaded during the e-visa application)
  • Scanned copy of the passport bio page
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory, uploaded or shown on arrival)
  • Proof of accommodation and an onward or return ticket
  • Valid credit or debit card for online payment
  • Biometrics: fingerprints taken on arrival at the port of entry
  • Travel health insurance: recommended

Visa types

  • e-Visa tourist - single entry, valid 90 days from issue, max stay 30 days, fee approx. USD 170
  • e-Visa business - single or multiple entry, requires an invitation letter, fee approx. USD 180-200
  • Transit e-visa - short stopovers, valid up to 7 days, lower fee

How to apply online

  • Apply via the official Chad e-visa portal, linked from the Chad embassy's website (ambassade-tchad.org)
  • Steps: 1) Create an account and enter personal and passport details 2) Upload the passport scan, photo and yellow fever certificate 3) Pay the fee online by card 4) Receive e-visa approval by email as a PDF to print and carry
  • Processing time: 3-5 business days under normal circumstances
  • Present the printed e-visa approval with the passport and yellow fever certificate on arrival at N'Djamena International Airport
