Angola Visa for Germany Citizens 2026

German citizens can visit Angola visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism or short business trips, but must register with SME (Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros) if staying beyond a few days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least 2 blank pages
  • No visa or entry form required for stays up to 30 days
  • Proof of onward or return ticket may be requested at the border
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter) recommended
  • No specific photo requirement since no visa application is needed
  • Biometrics: fingerprints and photo may be taken on arrival at Luanda's Quatro de Fevereiro Airport
  • Travel health insurance: strongly recommended; yellow fever vaccination certificate required if arriving from or transiting a yellow fever risk country

Visa types

  • Visa-free short stay: for tourism, business meetings, or family visits; single entry; max 30 days per visit within a 90-day period; no fee
  • Ordinary visa: required for stays longer than 30 days or for work; apply through the Angolan Embassy in Berlin before travel; fee approximately EUR 80-120 depending on category
  • Work visa: required for any paid employment; must be sponsored by an Angolan employer and processed before arrival

Entry conditions

  • Stay is limited to 30 days per entry, non-extendable at the border
  • No work or paid activity permitted under the visa-free arrangement
  • On arrival, present passport, return ticket, and accommodation details to immigration officers
  • Extensions beyond 30 days are not available under the visa-free scheme; travelers needing longer stays must apply for an ordinary visa in advance
  • Keep the entry stamp and any registration slip until departure, as it may be checked on exit

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for the visa-free 30-day entry
  • Ordinary visa (if needed): approximately EUR 80-120 depending on visa category, payable at the embassy
  • No VFS or BLS service is used for Angola; applications go directly through the embassy
  • Standard processing time for an ordinary visa: 5-10 working days
  • Express processing generally not offered; plan at least 2 weeks ahead if a visa is required

Tips for Germany travelers

  • Carry proof of yellow fever vaccination even if not arriving from a risk country, as checks can be inconsistent
  • Keep printed copies of hotel bookings and return flights, since border officers may ask for them despite the visa-free status
  • Common issue for German travelers: insufficient passport validity or missing blank pages causes entry refusal
  • If planning a longer stay or business activity, apply for the ordinary visa well ahead through the Angolan Embassy in Berlin rather than assuming an extension is possible locally
  • Register with the German Embassy in Luanda on arrival if staying an extended period, for safety and consular support
