Guide last updated October 27, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay
  • No visa application needed for stays up to 90 days
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay (may be requested by immigration)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host address)
  • Signed Palau Pledge stamped into the passport on arrival (environmental commitment)
  • Travel health insurance recommended, not mandatory
  • No biometrics required beyond the standard arrival photo

Visa types

  • No visa category exists for French tourists since entry is visa-free. The only formal step is the Palau Pledge stamp issued at the airport. Stays beyond 90 days require an extension through the Bureau of Immigration rather than a different visa class.

Entry conditions

  • 90 days permitted per entry
  • No paid work allowed on a visitor stamp
  • Must show return ticket, accommodation proof and sign the Palau Pledge on arrival
  • Extensions available in increments at the Koror Division of Immigration, up to roughly 1 year total
  • Single-use plastics are banned nationwide, affecting what you can bring in

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the 90-day visa-exempt entry
  • Pristine Paradise Environmental Fee (PPEF), about $100, usually bundled into the airfare or collected at departure
  • Extension fee at Immigration roughly $50 per additional month, processed same day

Tips for France travelers

  • Book flights that already include the PPEF to avoid a separate payment at the airport
  • Carry printed proof of accommodation, as officers may ask for it
  • Keep the Palau Pledge page accessible when leaving
  • Direct flights from Europe don't exist; plan connections via Guam, Manila or Seoul with buffer time
