Indonesia Visa for France Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

French citizens get a Visa on Arrival for Indonesia, obtainable at major airports or pre-paid online via molina.imigrasi.go.id; it costs IDR 500,000 (about USD 33) and is valid 30 days, extendable once.

Guide last updated October 26, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • No paper form required when paying VOA on arrival; the online e-VOA at molina.imigrasi.go.id requires filling in personal and flight details before travel
  • Proof of onward/return ticket, sometimes checked
  • Proof of accommodation booking recommended but rarely checked
  • No specific photo requirement for the VOA counter, though the online e-VOA asks for a digital photo upload
  • No biometrics taken for VOA (fingerprints are only taken for longer-stay visas)
  • Travel health insurance not mandatory but recommended given limited rural healthcare access

Visa types

  • Visa on Arrival (VOA / e-VOA): single entry, 30 days, for tourism or short business visits, extendable once for an additional 30 days from within Indonesia
  • Business Visa (B1, separate from VOA): for activities beyond VOA scope (meetings with a sponsor letter), arranged in advance through an Indonesian sponsor
  • Social-Cultural Visa: for longer visits with an Indonesian sponsoring organization, not covered by VOA

Visa on arrival

  • Available at major international airports (Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, Bali Ngurah Rai, Surabaya, Medan) and major seaports.
  • Pay the IDR 500,000 fee in local currency, card, or sometimes USD cash at the counter, or pre-pay online via molina.imigrasi.go.id up to 90 days before arrival
  • Pre-paying online generates a QR code that speeds up the physical queue on arrival
  • Processing at the airport counter typically takes 10-30 minutes depending on queue length
  • Extension (30 more days) is done at a local immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi) before the initial 30 days expire, costs roughly IDR 500,000 again plus a small service charge

Fees & processing time

  • VOA fee: IDR 500,000 (approximately USD 33), payable in rupiah, major cards, or online in advance
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee - handled directly by Indonesian immigration
  • Total cost for 30 days: just the IDR 500,000 fee
  • Extension fee: approximately IDR 500,000 plus a nominal administrative charge, processed same day to a few days at a local immigration office
  • No priority/express VOA option exists - processing is simply the airport queue

Tips for France travelers

  • Pre-pay the e-VOA online before departure to skip the payment queue and go straight to the stamping counter
  • Common issues: passport with less than 6 months validity, or an immigration officer asking for an onward ticket you cannot produce
  • Keep the VOA receipt/sticker until departure - it may be checked at exit
  • If staying longer than 60 days total, you must either extend before day 30 or apply for a different visa category in advance - overstaying incurs a daily fine (around IDR 1,000,000 per day)
  • No current bilateral notice affecting French tourists specifically
