Fiji Visa for France Citizens 2026

Visa Free

French citizens can visit Fiji visa-free for up to 120 days for tourism — no visa application required, just a valid passport and proof of onward travel.

Guide last updated September 22, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • No visa application needed in advance
  • Return or onward ticket required at check-in and immigration
  • Proof of accommodation recommended to carry, though not always checked in detail
  • Evidence of sufficient funds may be requested by immigration officers
  • No specific photo requirement for entry
  • Biometrics: photo taken at immigration on arrival
  • Travel health insurance: recommended given the distance from France and limited specialist medical facilities

Visa types

  • Tourist stay: visa-free entry permit for up to 4 months (120 days) for tourism, granted on arrival
  • Business Visa: needed only for local paid work or extended business dealings; short meetings/conferences are generally covered under the visa-free entry
  • Work Permit: required for any employment in Fiji, applied for by the employer through Fiji Immigration
  • Student Permit: required for enrollment in Fijian institutions beyond short courses

Entry conditions

  • Entry permit granted for up to 120 days on arrival, provided you have a valid passport, onward ticket, and sufficient funds
  • No paid work is permitted while on the visa-free tourist permit
  • Extensions beyond 120 days can be requested at the Department of Immigration in Suva, subject to approval and additional fees
  • Overstaying can result in fines and future entry difficulties

Fees & processing time

  • Entry permit on arrival: free
  • Extension application (if approved): government fee applies, typically in the range of FJD 100–200 (roughly USD 45–90), payable at the Department of Immigration
  • Standard extension processing: several business days to a couple of weeks
  • No VFS/BLS intermediary — extensions are processed directly by Fiji Immigration

Tips for France travelers

  • Confirm your onward or return ticket is bookable and shown at check-in, as airlines can deny boarding without it
  • If considering an extension, start the process well before your 120 days expire, as approval is not automatic
  • Fiji's cyclone season (November–April) can affect travel plans — check insurance coverage for weather disruptions
  • There is no French Embassy in Fiji; the nearest is in Wellington, New Zealand, or Canberra, Australia, alongside an honorary consul presence in Suva for basic assistance
  • Direct flights from France are not available — most journeys connect via Los Angeles, Auckland, Sydney or Hong Kong
