Armenia Visa for France Citizens 2026

Visa Free

French citizens can enter Armenia visa-free for up to 180 days per calendar year, one of the more generous visa-free allowances available to EU passport holders.

Guide last updated September 22, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Valid passport (a national ID card is not sufficient for Armenia)
  • No visa application needed for stays up to 180 days
  • Proof of accommodation recommended, not usually checked
  • Return or onward travel proof recommended
  • Travel health insurance recommended
  • No biometrics for visa-free entry

Visa types

  • Visa-free entry: up to 180 days per calendar year, no fee, recorded electronically on arrival
  • For stays beyond 180 days, work, or study, a residence permit application is made after arrival with Armenia's State Migration Service

Entry conditions

  • French citizens may stay up to 180 days per calendar year without a visa
  • Employment during the visa-free period is not authorized without a separate work permit
  • Present your passport at Zvartnots International Airport or land borders; entry is recorded electronically
  • To extend beyond 180 days total per year, apply for a temporary residence permit before the allowance is used up

Fees & processing time

  • No fee for the 180-day visa-free entry
  • Temporary residence permit (for longer stays): approx USD 100-200 equivalent, processing 30 days at the State Migration Service
  • No consulate visit needed for the standard tourist entry

Tips for France travelers

  • Armenia's 180-day allowance is calculated per calendar year, not per 180-day rolling window, so track cumulative days used
  • Bring cash (USD or EUR) as backup, since card acceptance outside Yerevan can be limited
  • If continuing toward Nagorno-Karabakh or other sensitive border regions, check current travel advisories before departure
  • French citizens do not need to register with local authorities for stays under the visa-free period
  • Direct flights from Paris to Yerevan are seasonal; connecting via Vienna or Gulf hubs is common
