Yemen Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa on Arrival

Yemen offers visa on arrival to a limited number of nationalities including Egyptians at select airports, but ongoing conflict makes most areas unsafe to visit - official sponsorship and extensive advance coordination are strongly recommended.

Guide last updated October 19, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned stay
  • A sponsorship/invitation letter from a Yemeni company, organization, or host, which is effectively required to obtain the visa on arrival given current conditions
  • Two passport-size photos, white background
  • Proof of accommodation and ground transport arrangements, given the limited operating infrastructure
  • Travel health insurance covering medical evacuation is strongly recommended
  • No standard biometrics requirement at the port of entry beyond passport photograph and fingerprint scan, where equipment is operational
  • Confirmation of which airport or border crossing is currently open, since access points change due to the security situation

Visa types

  • Visa on arrival (business/visit): single entry, typically valid for a stay of up to 30 days, fee approx. USD 30-100 depending on the port
  • Pre-arranged visa through a Yemeni embassy/consulate abroad (an alternative for those who prefer to secure a visa before traveling): single entry, similar fee range
  • Long-stay residence permits exist for workers but require a separate in-country sponsorship process

Visa on arrival

  • Confirm in advance which airport (commonly Aden, given ongoing restrictions on Sana'a) is accepting international arrivals and issuing visas on arrival
  • Carry your sponsorship/invitation letter, as immigration officers generally require it before issuing the visa on the spot
  • Pay the visa fee in cash (USD or Yemeni rial) directly at the immigration counter
  • Expect queues and manual processing, since automated systems may not be functioning at all ports
  • Keep extra passport photos and photocopies of your documents, as backup copies are often requested

Fees & processing time

  • Visa on arrival fee: approx. USD 30-100 depending on the port of entry and current local arrangements
  • No formal VFS/BLS service fee; all processing is done directly by immigration officials
  • Total estimated cost: USD 30-120 including incidental handling charges
  • Processing time: issued on the spot, though queues can take 1-3 hours depending on the port's capacity
  • No express service is available; delays are common due to limited staffing and equipment

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Due to the ongoing conflict, check current travel advisories from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before planning any trip to Yemen
  • Having a strong local sponsor or company invitation significantly improves the chances of smooth entry and is close to mandatory in practice
  • Avoid relying on standard tourist-visa assumptions - this is a high-risk destination with a fluid security and entry situation
  • Keep in close contact with your sponsor and, where possible, the Egyptian embassy's regional coverage for Yemen in case of emergency
  • Extensions beyond the initial stay require in-person follow-up with Yemeni immigration authorities and are not guaranteed given current conditions
