Uruguay Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens need a Tourist visa (Visa de Turista) for Uruguay - apply at the nearest Uruguayan consulate since there is no mission in Cairo; fee around USD 40, processing 7-10 business days.

Guide last updated October 19, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Uruguayan visa application form (available from the consulate handling Egypt, typically the Uruguayan Embassy in Abu Dhabi or Riyadh)
  • Proof of sufficient funds: bank statement from the last 3 months showing at least USD 50 per day of stay
  • Round-trip flight itinerary and hotel booking or letter of invitation from a host in Uruguay
  • Two passport-size photos, 4x4 cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) taken in person at the consulate when submitting the application
  • Travel health insurance covering the full stay is strongly recommended, though not strictly mandatory for tourists

Visa types

  • Tourist visa (Visa de Turista): single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days per stay within a 6-month validity window, fee approx. USD 40
  • Business visa (Visa de Negocios): multiple entry, 1-year validity, max 90 days per visit, requires an invitation letter from the host company, fee approx. USD 60
  • Transit visa: for layovers over 24 hours, single entry, fee approx. USD 20

How to apply

  • Since Uruguay has no embassy in Egypt, submit your application at the nearest Uruguayan consulate (Abu Dhabi, UAE, or via courier arrangement they specify)
  • Book an appointment online or by email with the consulate before traveling with your documents
  • Submit the completed form, passport, photos, financial proof, and itinerary in person or via an authorized courier
  • Pay the consular fee by bank transfer or card, as instructed by the consulate
  • Attend a short interview if requested, especially for first-time applicants
  • Standard processing takes 7-10 business days; there is no formal express service

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist visa fee: approx. USD 40 (paid in local currency equivalent or USD, depending on the consulate)
  • No separate VFS/BLS service fee - applications go directly through the consulate
  • Total estimated cost: USD 40-60 including courier/document delivery if used
  • Standard processing time: 7-10 business days
  • No official express or priority processing is offered

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel to allow time for document courier and consulate processing
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient funds shown, unclear travel itinerary, or missing invitation letter for business trips
  • Since there is no Uruguayan consulate in Cairo, plan for document shipping time via courier or travel to the regional consulate in person
  • Check Uruguay's Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (gub.uy) for the latest list of required documents before applying
  • Tourist visas can typically be extended once for up to 90 additional days at Uruguay's National Migration Directorate (DNM) while in-country
