Tonga Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens need a visa for Tonga, applied for in advance through Tonga's Ministry of Foreign Affairs since there is no Tongan embassy in Egypt; fees run about USD 50-120 depending on type, with processing taking 2-4 weeks.

What you need

  • Passport valid 6+ months
  • Completed visa application form (downloadable from gov.to)
  • Two passport photos
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Invitation letter if visiting family or on business
  • Biometrics not typically required at application stage
  • Travel insurance: recommended

Visa types

  • Visitor visa - single entry, up to 30 days (extendable), fee about USD 50-70
  • Business visa - single or multiple entry, up to 90 days, fee about USD 100-120
  • Transit visa - up to 24 hours, usually fee-exempt

How to apply

  • Since Tonga has no diplomatic mission in Egypt, applicants submit the application and documents by courier or email to Tonga's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nuku'alofa, or through the nearest Tongan consulate (commonly in Australia, New Zealand, or Fiji). Pay the fee by bank transfer as instructed. An approval letter is issued and presented on arrival, where the visa stamp is applied.

Fees & processing time

  • Visitor visa: about USD 50-70
  • Business visa: about USD 100-120
  • No outsourced VFS/BLS service fee
  • Standard processing: 2-4 weeks due to the mail-based process
  • No express option generally available

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Start the process at least a month before travel given mail/courier delays and the lack of a local consulate. Common rejection reasons are incomplete financial proof and no confirmed accommodation. Keep digital and physical copies of all correspondence since there is no local office to follow up with. Extensions of stay are handled by the Immigration Division in Nuku'alofa once in Tonga.
