Egyptian citizens can obtain an e-Visa online via evisa.tj before travel, or a visa on arrival at Dushanbe International Airport; fee approx USD 50-65, processing within 3 working days online or on the spot on arrival.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Completed e-Visa application (online) or arrival visa form
  • Digital or physical passport-size photo
  • Proof of accommodation and return/onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Special permit required for travel to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), obtainable alongside the visa
  • Biometrics/fingerprints typically taken on arrival
  • Travel health insurance recommended

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa/visa on arrival - single entry, up to 45-60 days, fee approx USD 50
  • Business e-Visa - single entry, requires invitation letter, fee approx USD 65
  • GBAO permit add-on - required for travel to the Pamir region, minor extra fee, applied for with the visa

Visa on arrival

  • Apply online in advance via evisa.tj for faster airport processing, or request a visa directly at the visa-on-arrival counter at Dushanbe International Airport
  • At the airport: present passport and passport photo, and pay the fee in USD or by card
  • Online e-Visas are typically approved within 3 working days and emailed as a PDF to print and present on arrival
  • Add the GBAO permit request during the same application if visiting the Pamir Highway region
  • No embassy visit is required for either route

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-Visa/visa fee: approx USD 50
  • Business e-Visa fee: approx USD 65
  • GBAO permit: minor additional fee, often a few USD
  • Standard processing: up to 3 working days online; immediate at the airport counter
  • No separate express service needed given the fast turnaround

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply online before departure to avoid potential queues at the on-arrival counter
  • Common rejection reason: incomplete accommodation details or mismatched passport information
  • Request the GBAO permit in advance if your itinerary includes the Pamir region
