What you need

  • Completed visa application form, available from the North Macedonian embassy/consulate or mfa.gov.mk
  • Two recent passport photos, 35x45mm, white background
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Round-trip flight reservation
  • Bank statement for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds
  • Travel health insurance valid in North Macedonia with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) captured in person when submitting the application

Visa types

  • Short-stay (Type C) tourist visa - single entry, valid up to 90 days, fee around EUR 35
  • Short-stay multiple-entry visa - for frequent travelers, fee around EUR 60
  • Business visa - requires an invitation letter from a North Macedonian company, similar fee and process to the tourist visa
  • Airport transit visa - for passengers transiting without leaving the airport, lower fee

How to apply

  • Check mfa.gov.mk for the nearest North Macedonian diplomatic mission, since there is no embassy in Cairo in many periods - applications may be routed through a neighboring country's embassy
  • Book an appointment and submit the application form with all supporting documents and biometrics in person
  • Pay the visa fee in EUR or local currency equivalent
  • Standard processing takes 10-15 working days
  • Collect the passport with the visa sticker in person or via courier if offered

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approximately EUR 35 (single entry) to EUR 60 (multiple entry)
  • No separate VFS service fee - applications are processed directly through the embassy/consulate
  • Standard processing: 10-15 working days
  • No official express service; apply well ahead of travel
  • Total estimated cost: EUR 35-60 plus courier fees if used

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel given limited diplomatic presence in the region
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient funds evidence or unclear accommodation arrangements
  • North Macedonia is not a Schengen member, so a Schengen visa does not grant entry - a separate national visa is required
  • Extensions inside North Macedonia are handled by the Ministry of Interior and require a valid reason to stay longer
  • Confirm the current nearest processing embassy via mfa.gov.mk before booking an appointment, as representation can change
