Mali Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens require a visa for Mali, obtained in advance through the nearest Malian diplomatic mission since there is no Malian embassy in Cairo.

Guide last updated October 18, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Completed Malian visa application form
  • 2 recent passport-style photos, white background
  • Proof of accommodation in Mali (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate, required for entry into Mali
  • Travel health insurance is strongly recommended given the current security and health advisories for parts of the country
  • Biometrics are typically captured at the diplomatic mission processing the application or on arrival, depending on the post

Visa types

  • Tourist visa - single entry, usually valid for a stay of up to 30 days
  • Business visa - requires an invitation letter from the hosting Malian company or organization
  • Transit visa - for travelers passing through Mali to a third country, shorter validity
  • Long-stay or work visas require sponsorship from an employer in Mali and additional documentation

How to apply

  • As Mali has no embassy in Cairo, Egyptian applicants typically apply through the nearest Malian embassy or consulate in the region, or through Mali's mission information available via ambamali-inde.org for applicants routing through other posts
  • Submit the application form, passport, photos, and supporting documents in person or by courier to the handling mission
  • Fee is paid directly to the embassy, usually in the local currency of the country where the mission is located or in euros/US dollars
  • Standard processing time is around 5-10 working days from submission, longer if the application is sent by post to a mission outside Egypt
  • An interview is not always required but may be requested at the discretion of the consular officer

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: approximately USD 50-100 depending on the issuing mission and visa duration
  • No VFS/BLS service fee, as Mali does not currently outsource visa processing to a third-party agency
  • Total estimated cost: around USD 50-100 plus courier costs if applying by post
  • Standard processing time: 5-10 working days
  • No official express service is advertised, so plan for the standard timeline

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Start the process early given the absence of a Malian embassy in Cairo - factor in courier time to and from the handling mission
  • Common rejection reasons: missing yellow fever certificate, insufficient proof of funds, and unclear travel purpose
  • Check current travel advisories for Mali before finalizing plans, as parts of the country have ongoing security concerns that may affect visa issuance or your own travel insurance coverage
  • Carry printed copies of all correspondence with the issuing embassy, since processing by post can be slower to confirm
  • Extensions inside Mali should be requested at the Direction Nationale de l'Immigration before the visa expires
