Kuwait Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens require a visa to enter Kuwait; most travel is on a sponsored visit or work visa arranged by a Kuwaiti host, employer, or travel agency rather than an open e-visa, with fees and processing varying by sponsor type.

Guide last updated October 17, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry
  • A Kuwaiti sponsor (relative, company, hotel, or licensed travel agency) to initiate most visit visa applications
  • Completed visa application submitted through the sponsor via the Kuwait Ministry of Interior's e-services
  • Recent passport-style photo
  • Proof of accommodation and return ticket
  • For work visas: employment contract, educational/professional certificates (often requiring authentication), and a medical fitness certificate
  • Biometrics (fingerprint and photo) are captured on arrival at Kuwait International Airport for most visa categories

Visa types

  • Family/relative visit visa: sponsored by a Kuwaiti citizen or resident relative, valid up to 30 days, extendable
  • Commercial/business visit visa: sponsored by a Kuwaiti company for business purposes
  • Tourist visit visa through registered travel agencies/hotels: available to a defined list of nationalities and processed per current Ministry of Interior rules
  • Work visa (Residence Permit, Article 18): sponsored by a Kuwaiti employer, requires an approved work permit before travel
  • Egyptians most commonly travel to Kuwait on sponsored visit or work visas rather than independent tourist entry

How to apply

  • Your sponsor (relative, employer, or hotel/agency) initiates the application through the Kuwait Ministry of Interior's online visa system or the e-visa portal referenced at evisa.moi.gov.kw for eligible categories
  • Once the sponsor's request is approved, you receive an electronic visa approval or reference number to carry when boarding
  • For work visas, the employer separately processes a labor permit through the Public Authority of Manpower before the entry visa is issued
  • Document checklist, medical tests (for work visas, usually completed after arrival or at an approved center), and fee payment are coordinated by the sponsor
  • Processing is typically handled entirely by the sponsor in Kuwait; applicants in Egypt mainly provide documents and await confirmation

Fees & processing time

  • Family/visit visa fee: roughly KWD 3-5 (about USD 10-16), usually paid by the sponsor
  • Commercial visit visa fee: roughly KWD 10-20 (about USD 33-65)
  • Work visa/residence permit costs vary widely (often several hundred KWD) and are typically borne by the employer
  • Standard processing: visit visas often take 3-7 working days once the sponsor submits the request; work visas can take several weeks due to labor approvals and medical clearance
  • No walk-in visa-on-arrival is generally available to Egyptian citizens

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Arrange your sponsor and visa approval before booking flights, since Kuwait does not offer visa-free or on-arrival entry for Egyptians
  • Keep both digital and printed copies of the visa approval/reference number for airline check-in
  • Common delays stem from incomplete sponsor documentation or unauthenticated educational certificates for work visas
  • For urgent family visits, relative-sponsored visas are usually the fastest route
  • Check mofa.gov.kw for the latest consular guidance and any changes to the approved list of agencies/hotels that can sponsor tourist visits
