Guide last updated October 17, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
  • No visa application form needed for the visa-free 30-day stay
  • Return or onward travel ticket (may be requested at the border)
  • Proof of accommodation such as a hotel booking or host address
  • No minimum cash amount is fixed, but border officers can ask for proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • No visa photo required for visa-free entry
  • Fingerprinting/biometrics is taken for all arrivals at Jordanian border control as standard procedure, not visa-specific
  • Travel health insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended

Visa types

  • Visa-free tourist/business entry stamp: granted on arrival, valid for 30 days, single entry, no fee
  • Visit visa: needed only if arriving for purposes other than short tourism/business, or if the visa-free period has lapsed; processed through the Jordanian Ministry of Interior or nearest Jordanian mission
  • Work visa: requires an employer-sponsored work permit approved before travel
  • Student visa: requires acceptance letter from a Jordanian institution, applied for through the Ministry of Interior

Entry conditions

  • Egyptian citizens are admitted for up to 30 days per visit without a pre-arranged visa
  • No work of any kind is permitted on the visa-free entry stamp
  • At the border, present your passport, return/onward ticket and accommodation details
  • The stay can be extended at the Residency and Foreigners' Affairs Department before the 30 days expire, typically in increments of up to 90 additional days depending on purpose and police clearance

Fees & processing time

  • No visa fee for the visa-free 30-day entry
  • Jordan charges a departure/exit fee at land borders (around JOD 10 for land crossings such as King Hussein Bridge; air exit fees are typically bundled into the airline ticket)
  • Stay extensions cost roughly JOD 1-2 per day over a free grace period, paid at the Residency office, processed same day
  • Overstaying without an extension incurs a daily fine

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply for an extension before day 30 to avoid daily overstay fines
  • Land crossings from Egypt via Taba-Aqaba (ferry) can involve additional security checks; allow extra time
  • Check gateway2jordan.gov.jo before travel in case of policy updates specific to Egyptian nationals
  • Carry two extra passport photos in case an extension or replacement document is needed
  • For current bilateral notes or urgent consular help, contact the Jordanian embassy via mfa.gov.jo
