Iceland Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens need a Schengen visa to visit Iceland, since Iceland is part of the Schengen Area though not an EU member.

Guide last updated October 17, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond departure from the Schengen area, with 2 blank pages
  • Completed Schengen visa application form, available via utl.is (Directorate of Immigration)
  • One recent biometric passport photo
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) required in person for first-time Schengen applicants
  • Proof of funds for the stay (roughly EUR/ISK equivalent of EUR 50-100/day)
  • Travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage for the Schengen area
  • Confirmed round-trip flight and hotel booking or invitation letter

Visa types

  • Schengen Type C short-stay visa (tourist/business): single or multiple entry, valid for stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period, fee EUR 80
  • National long-stay visa for work, study or family reunification, applied for separately

How to apply

  • Iceland has no embassy in Egypt, so applications are typically lodged through a Schengen partner mission representing Iceland in Cairo, or via a designated visa application center
  • Confirm the current representing embassy for Iceland before booking, as this arrangement can change
  • Submit the application, documents and biometrics at the handling mission and pay the fee
  • Track the application and collect the passport once a decision is made

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 80, plus any service fee charged by the representing mission
  • Standard processing time: 15 calendar days, extendable up to 30 days depending on the handling mission's workload
  • No official express service for this route

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Confirm which embassy currently represents Iceland for Egypt-based applicants before starting, since indirect representation can add delay
  • Apply at least 6 weeks ahead to allow for the extra step of representation
  • Pack for Iceland's unpredictable weather and check seasonal road/weather advisories before finalizing an itinerary
  • Keep proof of strong ties to Egypt (employment, property) to support the application
  • Carry printed insurance and booking documents to the appointment
