Finland Visa for Egypt Citizens 2026

Visa Required

Egyptian citizens need a Schengen (Type C) visa for Finland, applied for via VFS Global in Cairo on behalf of the Finnish Embassy; the fee is €80 for adults and standard processing is about 15 calendar days.

Guide last updated October 17, 2026. Always verify with official sources before travel.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Completed Schengen visa application form (signed).
  • Travel health insurance covering at least €30,000 for medical emergencies and repatriation, valid across the Schengen area.
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host invitation) for the whole trip.
  • Confirmed round-trip flight reservation.
  • Bank statements for the last 3 months and an employment/salary letter or business registration documents.
  • One recent passport photo, 35mm x 45mm, light background.
  • Biometrics (fingerprints and digital photo) are mandatory and collected in person at the VFS Global application centre in Cairo.

Visa types

  • Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C), single entry: for one trip, valid for the dates requested, fee €80.
  • Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C), multiple entry: issued to frequent or previously compliant travelers, can be valid 1-5 years, fee €80.
  • National Long-Stay Visa (Type D): for study, work, or family reunification exceeding 90 days, applied for separately with Finnish Immigration (Migri).

How to apply

  • Book an appointment and complete the online Schengen visa form via the VFS Global Finland Cairo portal.
  • Assemble the full document checklist: passport, photos, insurance, bank statements, invitation/booking proof, and cover letter explaining the trip purpose.
  • Attend your VFS appointment in person to submit documents, pay fees, and give biometrics (fingerprints and photo).
  • Pay the €80 visa fee plus the VFS service fee (approx. €25-30) at the centre.
  • Track your application online using the reference number provided; standard decision time is about 15 calendar days, though it can extend to 30-45 days in busy periods or if extra checks are needed.
  • Collect your passport from VFS once a decision is made, or arrange courier return.

Fees & processing time

  • Schengen visa fee: €80 for adults, €40 for children aged 6-12, free for children under 6.
  • VFS Global service fee in Cairo: approx. €25-30 on top of the visa fee.
  • Total estimated cost: roughly €105-110.
  • Standard processing time: 15 calendar days from a complete application.
  • No official express/priority service for Finland; allow extra buffer time (apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel, up to 6 months in advance is allowed).

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Book your VFS appointment early - slots in Cairo can fill up weeks in advance during summer and holiday season.
  • Common rejection reasons: insufficient bank balance relative to trip length, unclear travel purpose, and inconsistent dates between flight bookings and the application form.
  • Use VFS Global rather than trying to approach the Finnish Embassy directly, since Finland outsources visa collection to VFS in Egypt.
  • Keep your own copies of every submitted document and your VFS receipt until the visa is issued.
  • If you plan to visit multiple Schengen countries, apply at the embassy of the country where you will spend the most nights (Finland, in this case).
