What you need

  • Completed Cyprus visa application form
  • 2 recent passport-size photos, white background
  • Travel/health insurance covering the full stay
  • Proof of accommodation and round-trip flight booking
  • Bank statements for the last 3 months showing sufficient funds
  • Proof of employment or business registration
  • Biometrics (fingerprints) collected in person at the embassy or visa application centre

Visa types

  • Tourist/Visitor visa: single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days, fee EUR 60
  • Business visa: requires invitation from a Cypriot company, same fee structure
  • Pro-Visa (pre-approval, 'ProVisa') sometimes required before the main visa for certain nationalities including Egypt, processed in advance by a local host or employer

How to apply

  • In many cases, a ProVisa (pre-entry approval) must first be obtained by a Cyprus-based sponsor, hotel, or travel agent before the formal visa application
  • Submit the visa application with all supporting documents at the Cyprus embassy in Cairo
  • Pay the visa fee (EUR 60) in EGP equivalent
  • Attend biometrics appointment
  • Standard processing: 2-4 weeks depending on ProVisa clearance
  • Interviews are uncommon for tourist applications

Fees & processing time

  • Visa fee: EUR 60 (~USD 65)
  • ProVisa processing (if required) is usually arranged and paid for by the local sponsor, no extra direct cost to the traveler in most cases
  • Total estimated cost: EUR 60-70
  • Standard processing: 2-4 weeks
  • No official express service; apply well ahead of travel

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Start the ProVisa process with a Cyprus-based host or tour operator at least 6 weeks before travel
  • Common rejection reasons: no ProVisa pre-approval, weak financial proof, unclear purpose of visit
  • Cyprus visas do not grant access to the wider Schengen area, so plan onward travel separately
  • Check mfa.gov.cy for the latest visa list and requirements
  • Extensions inside Cyprus are handled by the Civil Registry and Migration Department
