Visa types

  • Tourist visa (T-class): single entry, valid for 30 days, extendable once by 30 days
  • Ordinary/business visa (E-class): single entry, extendable for longer business stays and multiple entries
  • E-Visa: covers tourist visa only, issued for entry via Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville airports and limited land borders

Visa on arrival

  • Available at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville international airports, and most land border crossings
  • Steps: fill in the arrival form, submit passport and 1 photo, pay the fee in USD cash, wait for processing at the visa counter
  • Queues can be long at peak arrival times; the e-Visa (applied in advance at evisa.gov.kh) skips most of this queue
  • E-Visa holders still pass through a dedicated counter on arrival for a quick stamp check

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist visa on arrival fee: USD 30 cash
  • E-Visa fee: USD 30 visa fee plus USD 6 processing fee, total USD 36, paid online by card
  • E-Visa processing time: typically 3 business days
  • Visa on arrival processing: same day, usually 15-45 minutes depending on airport queues

Tips for Egypt travelers

  • Apply for the e-Visa in advance if entering through one of the eligible airports to save time on arrival
  • Common rejection reasons for e-Visa: blurry photo, passport scan not fully legible
  • Carry small USD bills for the visa-on-arrival fee and any incidental fees
  • The 30-day tourist visa can be extended once at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh before it expires
